| AOS 2.0 ready for lift off |
|
On March 31 Allesoversterrenkunde.nl 2.0 has been made available to the public. The new site looks better and has some extra functions compared to the old site. One of them is the 'daily astronomy calendar': For any place on earth you can calculate sun and moon rise and set, and you'll get twilight information. It's easy to just pick a Dutch or Belgian town near you, or you can provide coordinates. The site is a breeze to maintain; uploaded or copied images are resized and cropped to the right dimensions for the different versions on the fly. Notices of new news articles are sent out straight away to astronomy sites astronomie.nl and astronieuws.nl and to the editors of sites like volkskrant.nl and nu.nl, well know Dutch news sites. They are as well made public as a rss feed for people with news readers and are made available on twitter.com. The reactions to the completely restyled and extended new version have been very positive sofar. Judy Landman: "Outrageously professional. Fast, and very well laid out. Lex, you are an animal! Masterly made. And all that, from underneath a palmtree. Wow." |
